Hand Rejuvenation – Treatments for ageing hands in Tunbridge Wells

Hands treatments for volume loss in Kent and Sussex

Hands lose volume as we age.  The subcutaneous layers of fat become thinner and sadly we lose about 7% of skin thickness per decade. This allows veins, bones and tendons in the hands to become more prominent and bony. There are several factors including the reduction in skin elasticity and volume, dermal vascularity, sun and chemical exposure and smoking which all contribute to ageing hands.

Several options or a combination of treatments for ageing hands are available at rtwskin:

  • IPL or CO2 laser resurfacing helps reduce pigmentation problems and firm thinning skin.
  • For restoration of volume, we prefer to use Radiesseto help stimulate collagen production and reduce the appearance of dermal vascularity and bones on the back of the hand.
  • Mesotherapy (skin cocktail) helps to reduce the crepey appearance of the skin providing deep hydration.

Filler to restore the look of more youthful hands

Loss of volume can be reversed with dermal fillers such as Juvederm or Radiesse. Radiesse injections plump and replenish volume to the back of the hands to provide a youthful appearance instantly. Injected beneath the skin, Radiesse raises the skin level so that tendons, joints and veins lose their prominence. What makes Radiesse truly unique is the ability of the product to act as a scaffold under the skin, providing structure while stimulating your own natural collagen to grow. The production of natural collagen continues for several months, which extends beyond the initial effect of Radiesse. Results typically last 1–2 years

Radiesse is a dermal filler made up of calcium hydroxyapatite, a naturally occurring substance that is suspended in a water based gel. Its unique properties give it an excellent lifting capacity, making it well suited for restoring volume in the hands and face.

Results are immediate and can last 1–2 years

Radiesse is generally considered a safe and effective medical aesthetic treatment. Side effects are minor, such as redness and mild swelling which normally subsides within 24 hours, depending on skin sensitivity.  This can be easily concealed with makeup. Bruising and needle marks are a possible side effect, which may last for a few days.  Avoiding certain medications and supplements, such as aspirin and fish oil, can minimise this risk
