Feeling Gloomy about your Lighter Patches?

If you’ve got vitiligo, a disease affecting 0.5% of the world’s population which appears as patches of depigmentation on the skin, you may have been advised that there’s not a lot that will help your condition to improve. Being told that there’s no way back from your conspicuous and incessant skin complaint can be pretty depressing, but we’re here to ensure you’re kept in the dark no longer. Doom and gloom can be a thing of the past with rtwskin and their DEKA Monochromatic Excimer Light of Excilite-μ 308 nm; ensuring that the the traditional and often ineffective full body phototherapy and topical creams that many dermatology clinics prescribe may not be necessary.

So let rtwskin lead you into the light, ready to face your bright and beautiful future with our new procedure that treats vitiligo effectively and efficiently with no down time, side effects or pain. Our safe method is a far cry from the traditional treatments for vitiligo that expose your entire body to a wide range of UVB rays, which as you know can have a nasty side effects, including non-melanoma skin cancer, atrophy, striae, tachyphylaxis and hirsutism. The topical creams, as well as being a messy nuisance can cause unwanted acne. Our cutting edge procedure gives you real results, quicker and is much safer because the UVB beam of light is applied through a hand piece directly and only to affected area. This precision allows us to safely deliver a brighter light therapy, stimulating the faster production of pigmented cells. So come on, step into the light with the medical professionals at rtwskin!

In simple terms Vitiligo is the selective destruction of active melanocytes (the cells that make you brown) in the skin and the inactive melanocytes in the outer root sheaths of hair follicles not being affected ; the cause is unknown, but is generally believed to be an autoimmune process and can often be hereditary or triggered by a stressful event. Not that we want to baffle you with science, but just so you know, when re-pigmentation occurs, it begins at the hair follicle. It’s here that dopa-negative, amelanotic melanocytes in the outer hair root sheaths are activated to produce melanins, which travel out into the unpigmented skin. Now you must be feeling really enlightened!

A recent study revealed 57% of patients studied had partial to complete re-pigmentation after only 6 of 12 treatments over a 2 to 4 week period. Our medical professionals usually recommended popping in about two to three treatments per week. How much do Vitiligo treatments cost…?
