Warts are bundles of skin cells which have begun to grow abnormally due to contraction of a virus infection; they’re commonly found on vulnerable areas of skin that are likely to be banged or damaged, such as fingers, elbows, knees and the face. Verrucas or plantar warts are found on the bottom of the feet. Due to pressure on the sole of the foot, a layer of hard skin forms over the wart and can become inflamed and sore. They can be spread in showers, around swimming pools and by sharing towels or shoes.
At rtwskin we have two methods of combating this irksome pest; by ND Yag Laser or by ER Yag Laser. Both are safe and successful but use different methods. The first works by destroying the blood supply so that the wart can no longer survive, and the second by excising the lesion which is often helpful for larger treatment zones.

At rtwskin we use several techniques for wart/verrucae removal. The chosen treatment method should only take a few minutes to complete and we will make sure you feel as little discomfort as possible. The result depends on the specific type of lesion and how well-established it is. Some warts and verrucae will completely disappear a few weeks after laser treatment, while larger or older ones may take several sessions to remove. To ensure you have the best possible result we may recommend a combination of treatments.

It may be necessary, with particularly severe and deep rooted veruccae, to see our doctor who is specially trained in dermatology. She can then manage difficult cases and prescribe a bespoke treatment plan which may include prescription topical medication.
Fotona Nd:Yag Laser Wart Removal: Laser treatment of warts and verrucae is an effective alternative to traditional treatments and is particularly suitable for large or widespread warts and verrucae that have failed to respond to other treatments. This laser targets the blood vessels ensuring that the wart or verruca no longer has a blood supply. Essentially this cuts off the “food supply” to the wart or verruca, so it naturally dies and falls off.
In most cases warts and veruccae that are treated with Nd:Yag Laser are permanently removed after one treatment. In contrast to surgical removal, laser treatment causes no scarring, and generally requires no anaesthesia making it a particularly suitable treatment for children. We have had a very high success rate using this particular laser
Er:Yag Laser Wart Removal: The Er:Yag Laser is a “surgical” alternative to the Nd:Yag Laser and can be used to gently remove the wart layer by layer by evaporating infected tissue. Skin tags, polyps and other wart-like skin growths are also removed with this laser. Scarring is minimal.
Should we recommend ND Yag Laser there is a very small chance the blood supply may not be killed. In this case further treatment will be needed to ensure that the growth is killed. A course of one to three treatments may be recommended in weekly intervals.
