Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow..

If you have battled with razor burns and cuts, endured the pain of waxing, or are just fed up with speedy hair regrowth and ingrowing hairs, laser hair removal may be for you. But how permanent really is it and is it suitable for everyone? If you have pondered the answers to these queries continue reading as we respond to your most frequently asked questions.

The techy bit.  So just how does it work?
The laser transmits pulsed light which is converted to heat energy when absorbed by the pigment in the hair. As it travels down the hair shaft it damages the hair follicle, preventing the hair from growing back.

What to expect from your appointment
All our appointments begin with a complimentary consultation.  Meet one of our experienced practitioners and discuss your concerns together.  You will also receive a laser patch test and providing you don’t have a reaction after 24 hours you can book your first treatment.

How many treatments will I need and how often?
Everybody is different and has a different hair cycle and regrowth rate however, we usually find clients require at least a course of six treatments to get optimum results. Depending on which area you are treating we would recommend four – six-week intervals to begin with and as your treatments progress and the hair growth slows you may need to leave a greater period of time between appointments.

Is it permanent?
Laser hair removal damages the hair follicle and results in a substantial reduction in hair but it is not always possible to eliminate every single hair.  Over time you may experience some hair regrowth which tends to be much lighter and finer hair.

Is it suitable for everyone?
We treat men and women and all areas of the body. Our selection of quality lasers ensures we can treat all skin types including Fitzpatrick skin types 4-6.
Due to the laser reacting to pigment this treatment is unsuitable for white, grey, blonde or red hair which contains little to no pigment.  We would instead recommend electrolysis to target these hair types.

Does it hurt?
Laser hair removal can be a little uncomfortable in sensitive areas.  Some clients have described it as a pinching sensation. At rtwskin our lasers are highly efficient and our experienced staff selects the best laser for your skin and hair type. Each laser is fit with cooling technology which helps to numb any sensitivity and ensures your utmost comfort during treatment.

How much is it?
Prices start at £50 for a small area.  Our courses are very popular with clients as the majority of hair growth is caught within its cycle. We currently offer a course of six treatments for the price of four – two for free! We also offer maintenance appointments at a discounted rate for clients who have undertaken a course and just need a top-up.

So, if you are interested in banishing the hair for good or want to find out more book a complimentary consultation with one of our therapists and see what we can do for you.
